Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Proofolio collects, why, and what you can do about it. Proofolio is a portfolio tool for students: it helps you present projects, certificates, and extracurricular activities in one shareable place.

What we collect

• Account data — your name, email address, username, and password. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes; we never store or can recover your plaintext password.
• Portfolio content — everything you choose to add: profile details, projects, certificates, activities, experiences, achievements, skills, and uploaded files (images and PDFs).
• AI feature inputs — files and text you submit for AI analysis or writing help are processed by our AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate the result you see.
• Usage data — we use PostHog to understand how the product is used (page views, feature events, error tracking) so we can improve it.

How we use it

• To provide the service: authenticate you, store your portfolio, and render your public page.
• To power the optional AI features you explicitly trigger.
• To keep the service reliable and understand aggregate usage.

What is public

Anything you set to “public” is visible to anyone who visits your portfolio page at proofolio.tech/u/your-username, including the search engines if they index it. Private items stay private. Your email address is never shown on your public page.

Who processes your data

• Neon — database hosting (PostgreSQL)
• Cloudflare R2 — file storage for uploads
• Upstash — Redis caching and rate limiting
• Google (Gemini) — the AI features you opt into
• PostHog — product analytics

Cookies and local storage

We use one strictly necessary cookie for keeping you signed in, plus local storage for your session and UI preferences. Analytics may set their own identifiers. See the Cookies Policy for details.

Your choices and rights

• You can edit or hide any portfolio item at any time from your dashboard.
• You can make items private or delete them, which removes them from your public page.
• You can request a copy of your data or account deletion by contacting us.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will note the update date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
